The closest off-leash dog park to the house is at Holiday Park, about a five-minute walk away, though part of it is closed for renovation into 2027. Within about 25 minutes you also have Snyder Park's Bark Park and dog swim, a neighborhood dog park in Riverside, and city dog parks in Wilton Manors, Pompano Beach and Hollywood. Here are the hours, closures and fees, checked in September 2026.
Holiday Park, a short walk from the house
The dog park at Holiday Park (1150 G. Harold Martin Dr.) is open 7:30 am to 7 pm and closes every Monday and Wednesday from 8 to 11 am for maintenance. The city began upgrading the park in May 2026, including dog park improvements and a new playground. The dog park closed completely for May 26 to 28, and the city says its western portion stays closed for the length of construction, which is expected to finish by summer 2027, weather permitting. Expect detours on some walking paths and construction noise between 8 am and 5 pm. Check the city's Holiday Park page before you walk over.
Bark Park and the dog swim at Snyder Park
Snyder Park (3299 SW 4th Ave.), about 15 minutes south, has free parking outside special events. The fenced Bark Park is open 7 am to 7 pm from September through April and until 8 pm from May through August. It closes Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 to 11 am for maintenance, and all day on Christmas and New Year's Day.
The separate Dog Swim area is open 7 am to 7 pm from March through October and 7 am to 6 pm from November through February. It closes from 8 to 11 am on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month for water treatment. Neither area is staffed.
Riverside and the rest of Fort Lauderdale
The Riverside Neighborhood Dog Park (1320 SW 20th Ave.) is open 6 am to 9 pm, the longest hours of the city's dog parks, and is about 12 minutes from the house. All three city dog parks share the same rules: current vaccinations and a license, no puppies under four months, no more than three dogs per person, and no dogs in heat, sick or carrying parasites. Keep the gate closed, stop any digging, and leave food outside; treats are for training only.
Since November 2024, leashed dogs have also been welcome in all 110 of Fort Lauderdale's city parks, on a leash no longer than six feet. They are still kept off athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, splash pads and beaches, and out of swimming areas and any body of water. For routes close to home, see Dog Walks Near the Nest.
Wilton Manors, Pompano Beach and Hollywood
Colohatchee Dog Park (1975 NE 15th Ave., Wilton Manors) is the nearest by car, about five minutes, but every dog needs a City of Wilton Manors annual dog permit. It is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, allows two dogs per person and bans spiked or pinch collars. Call (954) 390-2130 about permits and current hours.
Canine Corner Dog Park (1101 N. Federal Hwy., Pompano Beach), about 20 minutes north, is open daily 6:30 am to 8:30 pm except Tuesdays, when it closes for maintenance. It has separate sections for dogs under 25 pounds and 25 pounds and up, dog water fountains and shade. It is membership only: Pompano Beach lists $31 a year per dog for residents and $62 for non-residents, or $21 and $42 for six months. Registration asks for a utility bill and photo ID, a rabies certificate (the tag alone is not enough) and a photo of your dog, so it suits long stays.
Hollywood lists seven city dog parks plus its Dog Beach, all open daily from sunrise to sunset. The easiest to combine with a day out is ArtsPark at Young Circle (1 N. Young Circle) downtown, about 25 minutes away. Broward County's two leash-free parks, Barkham at Markham Park in Sunrise and Woofing Waters at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, are about 35 minutes out and charge a daily or membership fee.

Before you go
- Bring proof of vaccination. Fort Lauderdale requires current vaccinations and a license, and Broward County's leash-free parks ask for rabies paperwork that shows the date. Keep the tag on the collar and a copy of the certificate on your phone.
- Count your dogs. Fort Lauderdale allows three per person and Wilton Manors two.
- Plan around the heat. Morning and evening visits are easier on paws in summer; Keeping Your Dog Safe in South Florida covers heat, storms and wildlife.
- Stay with your dog, pick up every time, and leave if play turns rough.
Back at the house
On days you skip the dog park, the fully fenced backyard, roughly 3,000 square feet with new artificial turf and a private entrance, gives your dog room to run. Rinse muddy paws at the outdoor shower, and keep barking down during quiet hours, 9 pm to 8 am. Tell us about your pet (how many, what kind) when you book, and ask us about pet terms. For sand instead of grass, see Dog-Friendly Beaches Near Fort Lauderdale.
Questions people ask
Is the Holiday Park dog park open during the renovation?
Partly. As of September 2026 the City of Fort Lauderdale says the western portion of the dog park stays closed for the length of construction, which began in May 2026 and is expected to finish by summer 2027. The dog park is open 7:30 am to 7 pm and closes Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8 to 11 am. Check the city's Holiday Park page before you go.
Do Fort Lauderdale's dog parks charge a fee?
The city's pages list no fee for Holiday Park, Snyder Park's Bark Park and Dog Swim, or Riverside, and Snyder Park parking is free outside special events. Wilton Manors and Pompano Beach are different: Colohatchee needs an annual city permit and Canine Corner is membership only.
Where can my dog swim?
At the Dog Swim area in Snyder Park, open 7 am to 7 pm from March through October and 7 am to 6 pm from November through February. It closes from 8 to 11 am on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month for water treatment. Dogs are not allowed in swimming areas or other bodies of water in Fort Lauderdale's city parks.
Can I bring a puppy to the dog park?
Not a young one in Fort Lauderdale. The city's dog parks do not allow puppies under four months old, and every dog needs current vaccinations and a license.
Is there a separate area for small dogs?
Pompano Beach's Canine Corner has its own section for dogs under 25 pounds. The Fort Lauderdale city pages do not list separate small-dog areas, so look at the layout when you arrive.
Can my dog come with us to other Fort Lauderdale parks?
Yes, on a leash no longer than six feet. Since November 2024 leashed dogs have been allowed in all 110 city parks, but not on athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, splash pads or beaches, or in swimming areas and other water.
Is there somewhere at the house for my dog to run?
Yes. The backyard is fully fenced, roughly 3,000 square feet, with new artificial turf and a private entrance. Quiet hours run from 9 pm to 8 am.
