Our commitment

Turtle Nest Bungalow aims for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and to describe the property clearly enough that a guest with a disability can decide whether it suits them before booking.

What we have done on the website

  • Semantic HTML with one main heading per page, landmark regions and a skip-to-content link as the first focusable element.
  • Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful photograph.
  • Full keyboard operation of menus, the search dialog, the photo lightbox and the map, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text and interface colors chosen for contrast against their backgrounds; no information conveyed by color alone.
  • Motion can be switched to a calm mode from the menu (the setting is remembered), and no content flashes.
  • Text resizes without loss of content, and pages work at 320 px width and 400% zoom.
  • Videos are the owner's own house tours and guest testimonials; each has a written title and description beside it, and captions are available in the YouTube player.

Known limitations

  • The illustrated maps are decorative summaries of real places; the same places are always listed as text beside the map with links to the full written guides.
  • Some older gallery photographs carry short descriptions; we are expanding them.
  • Booking is completed on our provider's checkout (Lodgify), whose accessibility we do not control. If it gives you trouble, call or email and we will take the booking by hand.

The home itself

The property is a single-story house on a residential street. The details below are what we can state from the house as it is today; we have not had a professional accessibility assessment and we have not fitted adaptive equipment.

EntranceA paved walkway from the driveway to a covered front door with one low step up. The rear patio opens directly to the backyard.
InsideEverything is on one level: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, both kitchens, the living areas and the patio. We have not measured door widths; ask and we will.
BathroomsOne bathroom has a walk-in shower with a low curb; the other has a tub and shower combination. Grab bars are not installed.
BedroomsTwo king beds and one queen bed, all on the ground floor.
PoolA heated pool with a shallow sun shelf entry. There is no pool lift or ramp.
ParkingFree on-site parking for two vehicles beside the house.
Not providedRoll-in shower, shower seat, raised toilet seats, hearing-loop or visual alarms. Tell us what you need and we will say plainly whether the house can work.

Tell us if something is not working

If any part of this website or the booking process is difficult to use, or you need information in another format, email info@turtlenestbungalow.com or call (773) 656-1144. We reply within five business days, usually much sooner, and we fix what we can.

How we test

Pages are checked with keyboard-only navigation, with a screen reader (VoiceOver and NVDA), and with automated tools including Lighthouse and axe. This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially.
